Edible Gelatin Sequins

  • Author: kate-dawson
  • Total Time: 135 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A fun and tasty approach to weight loss, these vibrant gelatin sequins add color and nutrition to your meals while being low in calories and high in protein.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Gelatin Sheets or Powder
  • 1 cup Fruit Juice or Puree
  • Sweetener (optional): Honey, agave, or stevia
  • ½ cup Water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Gather your gelatin, fruit juice, sweetener, and water. Make sure you have a mixing bowl and a shallow dish ready.
  2. Bloom the Gelatin: If using powdered gelatin, sprinkle it over a cup of water (about ½ cup). Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes; this rehydrates the gelatin.
  3. Mix the Juice: In a separate bowl, combine about 1 cup of fruit juice with sweetener, if using.
  4. Heat the Mixture: On low heat, combine the bloomed gelatin with the fruit juice mixture in a saucepan. Stir until fully dissolved, which should take about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Pour It Out: Once fully blended, pour the mixture into a shallow dish, spreading it out evenly. If you want different flavors, divide the mixture to add different juices.
  6. Chill: Place the dish in the refrigerator for about 120-180 minutes or until fully set.
  7. Cut Into Shapes: Once set, use a knife to cut the gelatin into small square or diamond shapes, creating your edible sequins!

Notes

To maximize the weight loss benefits, enjoy them 30 minutes before meals to curb hunger. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
