Description

A traditional Indonesian herbal drink combining turmeric and ginger, known for its potential health benefits and weight loss properties.


Ingredients

  • 2 inches fresh turmeric root
  • 2 inches fresh ginger root
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or brown sugar)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the turmeric and ginger root. Slice them into smaller pieces.
  2. Place the turmeric and ginger pieces into a blender with 2 cups of water. Blend until smooth.
  3. Strain the mixture using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, discarding the pulp.
  4. Add honey (or brown sugar) and lemon juice to the strained mixture, stirring until dissolved.
  5. If desired, add more water to reach your preferred dilution.
  6. Serve warm or chilled. If serving warm, gently heat without boiling.
  7. Pour into glasses and enjoy your homemade Jamu.

Notes

For a low-calorie version, replace honey with stevia. Experiment with spices like cinnamon for unique flavors.
